Review & Collaboration Policy:
Holy crap-you want to work together. That is amazing and I am truely honored. I am currently accepting authors who want me to review their books, collaborate with you on an blog post, or just give some advice. I will say-my TBR list is epic but I will do my best to move requested book reviews to the top of the list. There is alot of competition out there and I want to help in anyway that I can.
PLEASE READ THIS FULL POLICY IN FULL before contacting me. If your request shows that you did not read it, I will not respond.
I will respect you if you respect me. It is that simple.

What I Read:
I read all genres of books. Granted-I do tend to read non-fiction the least but love a good biography. I read the written work in all its glorious forms-give me spicy BDSM, or some contemporary fiction, hit me up with that historical fiction novel that you have done so-much-research on to make sure your readers feel like they are there. Rom-com? Yes PLEASE. Fantasy, sci-fi, and suspense? DING DING DING! What about a good LGBTQ+ book? Yas my queens and kings!
I like it all, will read it all, and be honest about it all. I do not sugar coat but I am respectful-if I do not care for your book-I will say what I did or did not like about it. I won’t just say the good things and books are not one size fits all. If I don’t care for it-I know someone else will and that’s why I want to review it either way.
AI & Authorship Policy
I know we all love a good ChatGPT moment, however, I DO NOT ACCEPT books that were written using generative AI tools. I want to hear your words, your voice, your hard work-not a bot. I support transparency and authentic human creativity in all forms of art and works. Please be prepared to disclose your book’s creative team and process if requested.
Trigger Warning Policy:
I will not glorify pedophilia or harmful acts against children. There is a difference between a younger person and an older person in a spicy age-gap novel. Sexual acts with a child, even fiction, will not be tolerated. If the book is non-fiction and speaks of harmful acts that happened to you as you recount your trauma-that is different and should be done tastefully in a way that honors your strength to move on. I also do not read books that glorify sexual or harmful acts against animals. Period. Again, recounts of what a serial killer does as a child and or terrorizes his ‘hunt’ in a novel is different than making the act sound justified.
Format Preferences
Accepted formats:
* ARCs/galleys (print or digital)
*Finished coplies (print or digital)
*Audiobooks (Audible, bibro.fm, Google Play, Chirp)
* NetGalley or Edelweiss links
Not Accepted:
*eBooks not formatted for Kindle
I appreciate a preferred review post date or general time frame to assist with your release or promotional calendar. However, due to a full reading TBR list, request, and mood reader tendencies, I may post outside of that date if no date is given.
Honest Reviews & DNGAF Policy:
I always post my honest opinion (says in head like Tamara from Real Housewives of Orange County GIF “It’s my OPINION!”). I will share if it is screaming YES or- I only finished the book because I believe constructive criticism actually does help authors.
I do not rate or review books I do not finish. That is not fair to do because I literally did not get the entire story and can not judge a book by its covers or even, at times, the first twenty chapters. (Slow burns sometimes erk me-but I get it).
Non-Review Collaborations
Even if your not an author ( I don’t just read…)-I will say yes to:
*Guest Post or interivews (exclusive to my site)
*Guest bloggers, TikTokers, Music Artist, or anyone with similar interest
*I will also guest post on your blog for cross promotion
*Promote women and people of color’s businesses and local small businesses
*Cover reveals, art promotion, app promotion, and giveaways
I will say NO to:
*Recycled promo content
*Pyrimid sceme businesses that ‘Get you Rich Quick’ *massive eye roll*
*SEO Schemes that effect the authenticity of the blog
Media & Fair Use Disclaimer
This blog often features:
*Short book exerpts for review/discussion purposes
*Book covers (sourced from official sites)
*Brief music lyric’s tied to links for review and used for discussion
*Embedded YouTube or music links to highlight music referenced
-All media is used under the assumption of fair use for commentary and reivew. I will always credit the artist, authors, ect. whenever possible.
If you are rights holder and believe your contect is used imporperly-please contact me for immediate resolution-I will never intentionally improperly use your works of art.
Plagiarism Policy
You are welcome to quote my reviews WITH CREDIT to me (Jenni with Books with a Side of Life or jenniwithasideofawkward). Any use without credit, or attempts to rewrite my content as your own, will be treated as plagiarism and addressed accordingly.
If you see someone using my content without attribution, please let me know-and I will do the same for you. #respecttheart
Privacy Policy
When you comment on my blog, your name, email address, and website (if included or requested to be included) are stored. Your email is ony used to send you notifications if I replay-never ever sold or shared. Span filtiering is provided through the site.
